The Unit Aims
The plans for this unit will be a specialist diagnostic breast unit in Hertfordshire we would like all the facilities for the rapid diagnoses of breast problems which will include a mammography suite, counselling rooms, an information and support area for patients and their families also all of the specialists of a breast care team. Including a Lymphoedema Nurse Our aim is to see all patients within two working days from their visit from the family doctor and have diagnoses within 24 hours.
The Hertfordshire Breast Unit will be dedicated to the rapid diagnoses of the breast using the most modern techniques.
It will provide the opportunity to discuss and plan treatment in a calm, efficient and optimistic environment.
The money the Hertfordshire Breast Unit Appeal has raised will buy the State of the Art equipment to diagnose breast cancer, in view that Hatfield will have a new State of the Art Hospital but that will not be for 8 to 10 years time when the new hospital opens the equipment can be moved to the new Hospital.
