My Story

He came back with signed photos a book and a t shirt I was so excited I felt like I had won the lottery I decided to raffle the t shirt and a couple of the photos It was when the spice girls film came out so I asked the manager and UCI cinema in Hatfield if I could sell raffle tickets in the foyer which we did the day after new years day which was not a good idea as I had a headache from the celebrations from the night before but I must work for my cause. I thought I should do a jumble sale as most charity’s did I walked every afternoon and put flyers though every house in Cuffley it took me about 3 weeks I was hoping to get the jumble in before hand to sort through it I received some but new people would bring it to the hall in Cuffley on the morning well you have never seen so much jumble in your life we could not put it all out a lady came at the end of the day and said she would have all the clothes from me I thought great I asked her how much she would pay me and she wanted it for nothing how dare she think that I would give all this away for free after my village had donated it to me to help ladies with breast cancer so my friends formed a human chain from the top of my drive and we put it all in my Husband loft and did another jumble sale and a few car boots with it
I met someone who belonged to a rotary club and said why don’t I do a duck raise what is a duck race I asked well you sell raffle tickets they all have a number on and so does duck so I went ahead went to pick the ducks up and I needed one thousand and the last person who hired the ducks before put all the ducks no 1-2000 altogether so there I was taking no1000-2000 out of the plastic bin liners as I did not need them {and they where all wet} we held this race in the grounds of Hertford Castle we sold more tickets on the day the nets were all in place ready to catch the ducks at the end of the race we dropped them from one bridge and then caught them at the next bridge before they went down the weir, we were so engrossed in watching the ducks come down we never noticed a couple of boys unhook the net and the ducks started to go down the weir o no I thought for every duck I lost I would have to pay 50p for out of my charity money so there I was running down the river asking the fishermen if they see any yellow plastic ducks come by could they please rescue them I think they thought I was crackers [ NO MORE DUCK RACES].
